There has been increasing interest in the topic of human flourishing, a state of happiness, well-being, meaning and purpose. This one-day workshop focuses on faith and human flourishing. Attendees will learn about skills and programming interventions to maximize human flourishing at home, at work, in social relationships and in other settings.
This conference is for clergy, faith leaders, faith community nurses, health ministers, congregational care teams, chaplains and seminarians.
Objectives

Review research on faith and human flourishing.
Describe the eight programmatic interventions to enhance human flourishing.
Guest speaker Harold G. Koenig, M.D., MHSc. Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Director, Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health Duke University Durham, North Carolina With more than 800 scientific peer-reviewed academic publications, book chapters and books, Dr. Koenig was ranked No. 1 in the world among highly ranked scholars in the academic discipline of spirituality, and 29th in psychiatry in 2022 and 2024. In 2026, he was ranked ninth best in the world and sixth best in the U.S. by Research.com in the overall category of Best Social Sciences and Humanities Scientists, and received the 2026 Research.com Social Sciences and Humanities in United States Leader Award. Dr. Koenig earned his medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco and completed his training in geriatric medicine, psychiatry and biostatistics at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He is board certified in general psychiatry, and formerly in family medicine, geriatric medicine and geriatric psychiatry
