Nurturing Flourishing Communities Through Faith

There has been increasing interest in the topic of human flourishing, a state of happiness, well-being, meaning and purpose. This one-day workshop focuses on faith and human flourishing. Attendees will learn about skills and programming interventions to maximize human flourishing at home, at work, in social relationships and in other settings. Target audience This conference is for clergy, faith leaders, faith community nurses, health ministers, congregational care teams, chaplains and seminarians.
Spiritual First-Aid for Intergenerational Trauma
This is a virtual offering.
OBJECTIVES: At the end of this session:
1. Describe intergenerational trauma and how patterns of stress, loss, family experience, and coping can affect physical, livelihood, emotional, social, and spiritual needs across generations.
2. Apply Spiritual First Aid Triage to identify a person’s most pressing unmet Primary Need rather than assuming what matters most.
3. Use Spiritual First Aid Care principles, including practical presence and appropriate coping support, to strengthen connection, meaning, resilience, and hope.
4. Recognize when additional support is needed and use Spiritual First Aid referral and resource principles to help connect a person with appropriate mental health, medical, crisis, community, or faith based support.

FCNI Annual Virtual Conference
Description: This conference explores spiritual care, end-of-life communication, and trauma-informed approaches for vulnerable populations. This activity equips faith community nurses with evidence-based strategies for holistic practice, concluding with a vital focus on the healing power of sleep and self-care for the practitioner.
Outcomes: Upon completion of activities at this conference, learners will be able to:
Describe 2 types of ministry that the FCN can provide to anyone they serve regardless of spiritual/religious beliefs.
Identify 2 core principles for end-of-life communication with patients and families.
Discuss 2 Trauma-Informed Care approaches when engaging vulnerable populations.
Describe 2 evidence-based sleep hygiene strategies that nurses can implement.
This activity has been submitted to the Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit for approval to award contact hours. The Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit is an accredited approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

What will you learn? This entry-level suicide prevention class teaches the signs of suicide and how to ask someone about suicide. Question, Persuade and Refer, or QPR, is a widely taught gatekeeper training course.
Like CPR, QPR is an emergency system that can help someone in a crisis save lives.

Medical Cannabis Through the Lens of Science and Faith
Course Description: This presentation explores medical cannabis from both evidence-based and biblical perspectives to equip Faith Community Nurses with the knowledge, wisdom, and discernment needed for practice. First, the critical role of the endocannabinoid system in maintaining homeostasis will be highlighted. The historical evolution and modern clinical use of medical cannabis will then be examined, with an emphasis on current evidence related to therapeutic indications, patient outcomes, adverse effects, safety concerns, and potential risks. Biblical principles, professional nursing ethics, and reflective clinical decision-making will be integrated to address how healthcare professionals can navigate bias, legal complexities, and moral tensions while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Through the lens of both science and faith, participants will gain a balanced framework for approaching medical cannabis with competence and Christian discernment.

This workshop is designed for directors of liturgical music and singers in parish liturgies who are new to chant. Classroom sessions will introduce participants to the basics of chant, including notation and essential terminology, while daily rehearsals will offer an opportunity to sing and interpret this foundational repertoire of sacred music.

Aging is not only biological or psychological process – it is a deeply spiritual journey marked by
